Our Programs - Child Sponsorship

Child sponsorship

Orphan-hood in Uganda remains a big challenge with the proportion of children that are orphaned increasing from 11.4% in 1999/2000 to 13.4% in 2002/2003 and 14.8% in 2005/2006, although in 2009/2010 the magnitude reduced slightly to 14%. Although children`s vulnerability is wide spread in all regions of Uganda, variations in vulnerability also tends to be associated with wealth distribution. The Education Sector Strategic plan 2015/2016 recognizes the importance of UPE and USE in addressing human capital and literacy of its citizens.

TWA concerns:

Our concern with other collaborative partners is to promote education through provision of bursaries, scholastic materials, uniform, school bags, shoes, sanitary kits, soap and others. But since the number of OVC is overwhelming and TWA can not support all of their needs. TWA has continued to solicit for funds from well wishers from as low as 50 USD per month.
